BUCKTOWN — It took less than three minutes for a package thief to swipe a bathroom scale and a small container of blush from the lobby of a condo building in Bucktown.

The incident occurred at 10:24 p.m. Monday in the 2000 block of North Damen Avenue and was captured on a surveillance camera.

Braden Henrichs, who lives in the building with his girlfriend, said that he was struck by the fact the crook "got in [to the building] super easy and was not worried at all."

The thief, who arrived and departed by bicycle, used a screwdriver he pulled out of a tool kit affixed to his bike handlebars to pry open the door.

He stole a digital weighing scale that Henrichs' girlfriend had bought online and a container of blush from Macy's that Henrichs' neighbor had bought.

He did not take an area rug that was rolled up, or other items.

The package had been left in the building's entryway overnight because the Bucktown couple had just just come back from the airport and didn’t have enough hands to grab the box. They'd meant to retrieve it later.

Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman, confirmed the incident.
