CHICAGO — A shooting Wednesday evening in West Town's Smith Park left two people wounded, police said.

At 5:30 p.m., a 20-year-old man was in the park in the 500 block of North Campbell Avenue when two men walked up to him and they started arguing, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman. One of the men took out a gun and fired shots.

The 20-year-old was hit in the leg and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in good condition, Estrada said.

A 15-year-old boy who was not part of the argument was also wounded by the gunfire, Estrada said. The teen was taken to St. Mary's and officials thought his thigh had been grazed by a bullet, but they determined he was bruised by flying debris.

The man was a gang member, police said, and the shooting might be gang-related.

No one was in custody.
