DUNNING — Children can get more than a dozen free books as part of the Chicago Public Library's summer reading program, officials said.
The library plans to give 1 million books to kids this summer through its Rahm's Readers program, named for Mayor Rahm Emanuel, in conjunction with Bernie’s Book Bank, officials said.
Chicago children can stop by a library branch and sign up for the summer program and receive 12 free books. Children 5 and younger will receive an additional book, courtesy of KPMG, officials said.
The book distribution days begin Monday, officials said.
The schedule for Northwest Side branches is:
• 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday at the Dunning library, 7455 W. Cornelia Ave.
• 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July 20 at the Albany Park library, 3401 W. Foster Ave.
• 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. July at Sulzer Regional library, 4455 N. Lincoln Ave.
