BUCKTOWN- Hip-Hop recording artist and Chicago native Chance The Rapper called out the dress code policy at Whirlyball, 1825 W. Webster Ave., for having what he believes is an alleged bias toward African-American customers.
The Chatham native released a series of tweets Saturday voicing his displeasure.
Chance also claims that Whirlyball's "armed" security wouldn't allow him to speak with bar management to address his grievances.
Whirlyball's dress code prohibits its customers from wearing torn or soiled clothing, no hats, clothing, jewelry, or tattoos with profanity or explicit art, along with no over-sized chains. Here's the full dress code from Whirlyball's website:
• No undershirts, sweatpants, joggers or sleepwear.
• Men’s shirts must have sleeves.
• No torn or soiled clothing.
• No hats, clothing, jewelry, or tattoos with profanity or explicit art.
• All over-sized chains, wallet chains or pendants must be tucked in clothing.
• Management reserves the right to deny entry for argumentative, rude or offensive behavior.
