CHICAGO — The family of Jessica Hampton, a woman stabbed to death on the Red Line last week, is trying to raise money for her funeral.

Hampton, 25, was riding on the Red Line with her former boyfriend when they got into an argument, prosecutors have said. The man, Arthur Jones, asked Hampton if she was going to have his baby. When she shook her head "no," Jones stabbed her repeatedly and then slit her neck, prosecutors said.

Hampton's family has been trying to raise money for her funeral, but their GoFundMe fundraiser was temporarily frozen, according to a Twitter post from Black Lives Matter Chicago, an advocacy group.

Black Lives Matter is now accepting online donations on behalf of Hampton's family so they can afford a $600 down payment for her Friday funeral. All of the money that is raised will go to Hampton's family, including anything that comes in after the initial $600, the group said.

GoFundMe did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
