Midway Fly Away 5K Set For Sept. 18

 The fourth annual Midway Fly Away 5K is set for Sept. 19. Set for a 9 a.m., the 3.1-mile event at Midway International Airport supports the programs of Special Olympics Chicago, an organization that serves more than 5,000 athletes.

MIDWAY — Registration is now open for the fourth annual Midway Fly Away 5K.

Set for Sept. 18, the 3.1-mile event at Midway International Airport supports the programs of Special Olympics Chicago, an organization that serves more than 5,000 athletes.

The "Midway" runner, the person who places in the middle of the race, will win Southwest Airlines tickets.

Registration in advance of the race is $40 for adults and $20 for children 16 and under. “The Midway Miler,” a new race open to kids 10 and under, is $15 per child.

Runners can sign up here, but adults can also sign up on race day for $50.

Registration includes a souvenir race T-shirt and free parking.
