LOGAN SQUARE — The annual Vernacular Photo Festival is back again in Logan Square.
The festival, which features gallery hours, screening of rare films, discussions and a party focused on a vintage video jukebox, is being held at the Comfort Station, 2579 N. Milwaukee Ave.
Open gallery hours are from 6 p.m. until 9 p.m. on Friday.
Saturday will feature an open gallery from 11 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Sunday from 2 p.m. until 6 p.m.
The Scopitone Party, celebrating the viewing of rare 16 mm Scopitone Music films, will kick off with music from the Windy City Soul Club starting at 6 p.m. on Wednesday June 22. The screenings will start at 8 p.m.
At 7 p.m. on June 24 the gallery will hold a talk by curator and collector Ron Slattery titled "Collecting Vernacular Photography — The Hands of Fate."
June 25 will include an open gallery from 11 a.m. until 2 p.m. and again from 4 p.m. until 9 p.m. Joe Gloia will give a talk on "George Eastman and the Invention of Snapshot Photography" at 4:30 p.m., followed by a talk at 5:30 p.m. by Nicholas Osborn on "Adventures in Irresponsible Archiving."
The festival will hold "On the Wonders of Binocular Vision: A 3-D Slide Show" at 7 p.m. June 25.
The final day of the festival, June 26, will feature open gallery hours from 2-7 p.m. Nakki Goranin will present a talk at 3 p.m. on "Vernacular Photography: The Art in Your Closet."
