Woodlawn Shooting Wounds 2 Men Playing Basketball, Police Say

CHICAGO — Two men were shot and wounded Wednesday night while playing basketball in Woodlawn, police said.

At 9:20 p.m., a 19-year-old man and 23-year-old man were playing basketball in an alley in the 6200 block of South Cottage Grove Avenue when a man walked up and shot at them, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman.

The 19-year-old was hit in the right arm. He was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

The 23-year-old was hit in the abdomen. He was taken to Stroger Hospital, where his condition was not released but he was listed as "stable," Estrada said.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
