CHICAGO — Two Lakeview businesses were robbed at gunpoint Wednesday, and the suspects got away with cigarettes and cash, Chicago Police said.
The two area businesses were robbed Wednesday afternoon, police said in a community alert Thursday.
In the incidents, two men walked into the businesses and one of the men showed a handgun while the other grabbed money from the register and cigarettes from behind the counter, police said.
The first robbery happened at Noon Wednesday in the 1100 block of West Diversey Avenue. The second incident happened a half hour later in the 1000 block of West Belmont Avenue, according to police.
The first suspect is described as a black man, age 35-40, about 5'6" tall and 230-250 pounds. The man was wearing a white t-shirt and blue denim shorts during the robberies, police said.
The second man is described as a black man, age 35-40, about 6' tall and 180-200 pounds. The second man was wearing a black baseball hat, a polo shirt with horizontal blue and white stripes, and black pants.
