CHICAGO — An East Garfield Park woman is being investigated after their 2-month-old baby died Saturday.

Komara Nellem died at her home in the 3000 block of West Polk Street at 6 p.m. Saturday, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

A cause of death has not yet been determined by the medical examiner, but the Department of Child and Family Services is investigating her mother for her role in the child's death, an agency spokeswoman said.

The child lived at home with her mother, who is the investigation, said Veronica Resa, spokeswoman for child and family services, which is investigating an allegation of neglect, Resa said.

The agency has not had prior contact with the woman, who does not have other children, Resa said.

A spokeswoman for the Chicago Police said the department does not have a file on the child's death.
