MAGNIFICENT MILE — A man robbed two people in the middle of the day last week near the shops of North Michigan Avenue after threatening he had a gun, police said.

The suspect approached the victims from behind, implied he had a gun and took their belongings, police said in a community alert Saturday. The robberies occurred:

• At 11 a.m. June 7 in the 600 block of North Dearborn Street.

• At 11:30 a.m. June 7 in the first block of East Walton Street.

Police described the suspect as a man between 20 and 25 years old with "average" height and build. Police don't have a more precise description of the suspect because he approached victims from behind, Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago police spokesman, said Monday.

Police are working on obtaining surveillance footage near the crime scenes, Estrada said.

The suspect was still at large as of Monday. Anyone with information on the crimes is asked to call police at (312) 747-8382.
