CHICAGO — An 18-year-old south suburban man died after being shot early Saturday in Chatham, according to police. 

At 1:30 a.m. Saturday, an 18-year-old was shot in Chatham, said Officer Bari Lemmon, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. He was on the porch of a home in the 8800 block of South Princeton Avenue when three men shot at him.

The 18-year-old was hit in his head and was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition before succumbing to his injuries just before 8 p.m. Saturday, according to police and the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

The shooting victim has been identified as Travell Montgomery, of suburban Hazel Crest, according to the medical examiner.

Police originally said Montgomery was 17 but later corrected his age to 18.

No arrests have been made, police said.
