Gift Certificates, Food To Be Given Out At United Church's Open House

ROGERS PARK — The United Church of Rogers Park is hosting its second annual open house June 11 featuring games, music, a fashion show, free food and gift certificates as prizes.

The open house will be from 12:30-3:30 p.m. at the church, 1545 W. Morse Ave.

It's being hosted by the Women's Creative Circle at the church.

"We are inviting the entire neighborhood to come visit us," said Holly Davis, who directs the circle with
Sharilyn Suggs. "You don't have to a be a member of the church or have religious a background."

A fashion show at 1 p.m. will feature clothes made at the women's circle, which offers sewing lessons. The circle meets 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays and is attended by women between the ages of 18-80 from all ethnicities and religions.

The group makes arts and crafts and does "anything that is creative," Davis said.

Davis thanked supporters of the event including Common Cup, 1501 W. Morse Ave. Gift certificates will be given away from J.B. Alberto's Pizza, 1326 W. Morse Ave., as well as Macy's, Nordstrom's, Wal-Mart, Target and Home Depot, along with food from Chipotle and Mariano's.

"It's going to be a party," Davis said.
