Kevin Atkins, 21, Killed In North Lawndale Drive-by Shooting, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 21-year-old man has died 1½ weeks after being shot in North Lawndale, officials said.

Kevin Atkins, of the 3600 block of West Douglas Boulevard, was standing outside on May 21 when someone in a passing car shot at him, police said at the time. 

Atkins was hit in his stomach and was brought to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in critical condition. He was pronounced dead at 5:09 a.m. Wednesday.

An autopsy showed Atkins died from complications of his gunshot wound in a homicide, according to Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records.
