LINCOLN SQUARE — Gather round the Maypole this weekend during Lincoln Square's annual Maifest.

The festival, a traditional German celebration of the arrival spring, runs Thursday through Sunday at Lincoln and Leland avenues. Enjoy food, beer, music and plenty of what Germans call Gemütlichkeit, which loosely translates as friendliness.

Maifest highlights include Friday's official opening ceremony featuring a keg tapping and May queen crowning. Phenix and the Polkaholics are among the crowd-pleasing bands set to take the stage, with the complete entertainment schedule available online.

Maifest's hours are:

• Thursday, 5-9:30 p.m.

• Friday, 5-11 p.m.; opening ceremony at 8 p.m.

• Saturday, noon to 11 p.m.

• Sunday, noon to 10 p.m.
