West Elsdon Shooting Kills 16-Year-Old Boy, Police Say

A shooting in West Elsdon left a 16-year-old boy dead on Wednesday morning, police said. The teen was identified as Victor Felix, of the 4100 block of West 56th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Felix was pronounced dead at 9:18 a.m.

CHICAGO — A shooting in West Elsdon left a 16-year-old boy dead on Wednesday morning, police said.

At 8:44 a.m., the boy was walking in the 4100 block of West 56th Street when someone in a brown Buick drove up, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The driver got out of the car, fired shots at the teen and then drove off.

The teen was hit in his mouth, his shoulders and one of his hands, Pacheco said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The teen was identified as Victor Felix, of the 4100 block of West 56th Street, in Cook County Medical Examiner's Office records. Felix was pronounced dead at 9:18 a.m.

Felix was just blocks away from John Hancock College Prep, where he went to school, when he was shot dead. A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise money for his funeral.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
