MORGAN PARK — A pair of armed robberies near Morgan Park High School — including one near the Morgan Park Police Station— prompted a community alert Monday.

One of the robberies occurred in an alley in the 1700 block of West Monterey Avenue in Morgan Park — just three blocks away from the police station on the Far Southwest Side, police said.

The other robbery occurred five blocks from the station at a bus stop in the 11100 block of south Vincennes Avenue in Morgan Park, according to the Chicago Police Department.

Both are near the high school.

The robber displayed a handgun and demand property in both cases. The robber is described as a black man between 16-18 years old. He is 5-feet-6 and 150 pounds and wore a dark blue or black hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans, police said.

Police did not provide a timeframe for these crimes. Anyone with information about these crimes is asked to call the Area South Property Crimes Unit at 312-747-8273.
