CHICAGO — A 36-year-old man was wounded when a man with a gun approached him at an ATM and shot him on the Near West Side early Friday, according to police.
The man was at an ATM in the 2300 block of West Madison Street at 2:40 a.m. when another man wearing a mask came up from behind, said Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.
The man turned around and hit the would-be robber, who then pulled out a gun and shot the man in the chest, Pacheco said. He was taken to Stroger Hospital in serious condition, Pacheco said.
No arrests have been made in the case, Pacheco said.
