River North Burglary Suspect Charged, Police Say

RIVER NORTH — A man caught in the middle of a Downtown burglary early Monday morning is facing criminal charges, police said.

Around 12:15 a.m. Monday, officers responded to a burglar alarm at a business in the 300 block of West Grand Avenue, police said. On the second floor they found Bernard Carter, 39, with a bag containing store merchandise.

Carter, of the 1400 block of South Canal Street, is charged with burglary and was scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday, police said.
