West Ridge Community Leaders To Be Honored By Chicago Cultural Alliance

WEST RIDGE — The Chicago Cultural Alliance announced Wednesday that two community leaders who are prominent in West Ridge will be honored for their dedication to Chicago's ethnic communities. 

Jan Lorys and Dorothie Shah will be recognized as the 2016 Outstanding Community Leader at the 7th Annual Mosaic by the Chicago Cultural Alliance.

The event is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, May 18 at the National Hellenic Museum, 333 South Halsted St.

Lorys, a West Ridge resident, is a historian with the Polish Museum of America. For 18 years, he served as the museum's director.

Shah, who has done extensive work with the Indian community in West Ridge, is a former history teacher at Evanston Township High School, along with being a board member of the Indo-American Heritage Museum.
