Man Dies 2 Days After Chatham Shooting

CHICAGO — Separate shootings left two men wounded, one fatally, in Chatham between Thursday night and Friday morning, police said.

• At 12:19 a.m. Friday, a 25-year-old man was found lying with a gunshot wound in his head in the 8200 block of South Maryland Avenue, said Officer Laura Amezaga, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition, Amezaga said.

Michael Montgomery, of the 8300 block of South Maryland Avenue, was pronounced dead Saturday afternoon, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office.

• At 7:53 p.m. Thursday, a 46-year-old man was shot in his right shoulder in the 8400 block of South St. Lawrence Avenue, Amezaga said. The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center.

No further details were immediately available.

No one was in custody in these shootings.
