Cinco De Mayo In Chicago: Lots Of Margaritas, Including One With Malort

CHICAGO — It's Cinco de Mayo in Chicago, and bars across the city are pouring some of their craziest tequila drinks, including one with Malort and another dedicated to Prince. 

If margaritas are how you're going to celebrate the anniversary of the Battle of Puebla, here's a sampling:

LAKEVIEW

• Would you drink margaritas at an Irish bar? How about one with Malort? Beef & Barley is serving the "Malort Hemingway" with Bacardi Silver, Luzardo, simple syrup, grapefruit juice, lime juice and Malort whip cream for $9. Quite a melting pot. Beef & Barley, 3001 N. Ashland Ave.

• The margaritas at Wrigleyville mainstay El Jardin have serious bite. And there's a patio! 3335 N. Clark St.

GOLD COAST

Luxbar is paying homage to the late, great Prince with a $13 "Purple Rain" margarita with Del Maguey Vida Mescal, St. Germaine, Hibiscus Tea and lime. Luxbar, 18 E. Bellevue Place.

RIVER NORTH/STREETERVILLE

• If, for some reason, you thought Trump Tower wouldn't have Cinco de Mayo specials, you thought wrong. Trump Hotel bar Rebar is hosting a $60 "Single de Mayo" event with professional matchmakers and an open bar with Herradura Tequila tastings, Mezcal margaritas, Micheladas and Sangria. 401 N. Wabash Ave.

• Lyfe Kitchen is selling "skinny margaritas" that are 200 calories or less. They're $9 with Sauza Silver and $11 with Don Julio. Various locations: 413 N. Clark St., 259 E. Erie St., 1538 N. Clybourn Ave.

• All margaritas will be $8 from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday at Tallboy Taco. 325 W. Huron St.

• Pineapple-habanero margaritas will be $5.50, or half price, at Beatrix on Thursday. Two locations: 519 N. Clark St., 671 N. St. Clair St.

• Cantina Laredo has a "Verde Infusion" margarita with cucumber-infused Montelobos Mezcal and Milagro Silver, fresh lime juice and agave nectar priced at $12. 508 N. State St. 

• Shaw's Crab House has a $12 watermelon margarita. 21 E. Hubbard St. 

• STK in River North will sell "Picante Passion" margaritas with tequila, lime, red chili pepper, watermelon, and a Tajin spiced rim for $14 all May. 9 W. Kinzie St.

• The Pepino el Pyu at Mercadito in River North includes Hornitos Blanco, cucumber, lemon, hoja santa and a cumin salt rim. It's sold for $12.50. 108 W. Kinzie St.

THE LOOP 

• Hot rooftop bar Cindy's has views of Millennium Park and a "Kick In The Daisy" margarita with hints of watermelon and marshmallow. The view is free, but the drink is $14. 12 S. Michigan Ave. 

• Cactus Bar in the Loop will sell $7 Don Julio margaritas Thursday. 404 S. Wells St.

• The M&M margarita from Latinicity has Xicaru Mezcal, agave, lime, cucumber, rosemary and Jarritos Mandarin. It's sold for $15. 108 N. State St.

WEST LOOP

• The newly opened Green Street Local has margaritas with Avion Silver, Grand Marnier, lime juice, sour mix and simple syrup. 130 S. Green St. 

• Cinco de Mayo was the day underdog Mexico beat invading France in the Battle of Puebla. Cemitas Puebla is run by a Poblano family. 817 W. Fulton Market. 

• In case you missed it, star chef Rick Bayless is opening two new Mexican restaurants on Thursday: Cruz Blanca and Leña Brava. Cruz Blanca is a taqueria and brewery, while Leña Brava will focus on seafood. 900 W. Randolph St., 904 W. Randolph St.

PILSEN

• La Vaca Margarita Bar has lots of ... margaritas. Our favorite is mango. Five stars. 1160 W. 18th St. 

• Del Toro has a wide range of signature margaritas as well as tequilas you can use to mix your own. 2133 S. Halsted St. 

LITTLE VILLAGE

• Nuevo Leon, the one that didn't catch fire, is serving margaritas on 26th Street. 3657 W. 26th St.

• If the margaritas don't strike your fancy at La Casa de Samuel, try the grilled rattlesnake or alligator. 2834 W. Cermak Road. 

LOGAN SQUARE

Get a "margarita flight" with red hibiscus, white coconut and green cucumber and cilantro flavors from De Noche Mexicana for $25. The flight can also all be served in one glass for $11. 2710 N. Milwaukee Ave.

BRIDGEPORT

South Siders have margaritas, too. Pancho Pistolas has them in peach and strawberry flavors. 700 W. 31st St.

HYDE PARK 

Promontory has cool shows, and a $10 "El's Margarita" with Pueblo Viejo blanco, Combier orange, lime and salt. 5311 S. Lake Park Ave.

RIVER WEST

Feeling fancy? Matchbox serves tart concoctions served in chilled martini glasses with powdered sugar on the rim. 770 N. Milwaukee Ave.

BUCKTOWN

Presidio is going half off all Mezcal drinks Thursday including their Tommy classic margarita and Mescal Old Fashioned, each sold for $8. 1749 N. Damen Ave. 

ROGERS PARK

El Carrito is celebrating its first birthday Thursday with half-priced tacos all day. Bring your own tequila. There's a liquor store next door. 6019 N. Lincoln Ave. 

ANDERSONVILLE

Replay in Andersonville will sell its mezcal cocktail with Alipus San Andreas Mezcal, grapefruit, lime, agave and soda for $7. 5358 N. Clark St. 

LINCOLN SQUARE

The Sixth doesn't makes margaritas, but it does have The Drinky McDrinkerson: a $12 tequila cocktail with pink habanero-flavored "snow." 2200 W. Lawrence Ave.

LINCOLN PARK

• North Pond is selling a $13 Strawberry Mezcal cocktail with Mezcal Vida, strawberry infused Lillet Rosé, jalapeno, tarragon and lime. 2610 N. Cannon Drive. 

• Adobe Gilas in Lincoln Park will sell $25, 64-ounce "Cervasa-Ritas" with two Coronas. The bar will also sell $6 El Milagro margaritas and $2 Mexican beers from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday. 1500 N. Clybourn Ave.
