CHICAGO — Police are warning Austin residents to be on the lookout after a series of armed robberies in the neighborhood.

At least three people have been robbed at gunpoint in Austin since Saturday, police said in a community alert issued Monday.

In these incidents, a man gets out of the passenger side of a gray car — possibly a BMW — armed with a gun and robs people of their phones and money, police said.

The first reported incident happened at 6:35 a.m. Saturday in the 600 block of North Pine Avenue, police said.

The second incident came at 5:50 a.m. Sunday in the 5000 block of West Superior Street, police said. Another incident was reported 10 minutes after that one Sunday morning in the 4900 block of West Superior Street, police said.

Anyone with information on the incidents is asked to call detectives at 312-744-8263.
