ALBANY PARK — Police are asking Albany Park residents to look out for a man they say tried to lure a female high school student into his car, according to a community alert issued Thursday.

Around 6 p.m. Tuesday, police said, the girl was walking in the 4500 block of North St. Louis Avenue, on her way home from Roosevelt High School, when a man pulled up next to her in a white Jeep.

The man honked his horn and motioned for the girl to come over, police said. When the girl ignored him, he continued to follow and honk at her as she walked another block.

The girl eventually went into a store in the 3500 block of West Montrose Avenue, police said, where she called 911. The man waited outside for a few minutes, then drove westbound on Montrose.

Police described the suspect as a bald white Hispanic man in his 40s.

Anyone with information on the incident or the suspect is encouraged to call Area North detectives at 312-744-8200.
