WEST TOWN — Forbidden Root, a botanical brewpub that opened in February and has attracted kudos from critics, will start serving brunch on Sundays.

Located at 1746 W. Chicago Ave., Forbidden Root announced Thursday brunch will be offered from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sundays, beginning this Sunday.

The menu, created by executive chef Dan Weiland, is focused on "twists on classic American fare," according to a news release.

Malted hanger steak, pork belly and kimchi pancake, French toast with smoked peanut butter mousse and banana are among the highlighted dishes featured on the restaurant's Facebook page.

Special "brunch-inspired cocktails" will augment the bar's staple beers and new elixir station, the restaurant said.

No menu is available yet.
