6 Things to Do in Wicker Park This Weekend

WICKER PARK —  With the weather projected to actually feel like spring, this weekend is shaping up to be a great one, offering many new spots to check out as well as big events for fans of movies and vinyl records.

Shop at the New Lowe'sAfter over a year of anticipation, a massive Lowe's opened on Thursday and will celebrate its first weekend in business at 1360 N. Ashland Ave. Lowe's hours are 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. Saturday; 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. Ph: 773-269-2560

Brunch at Americano 2211. The replacement to Birchwood Kitchen opened earlier this week and offers "a Mediterranean slant on ingredient driven fare, including shared small plates, sweet and savory hand made pastries," according to its Facebook page. There is no liquor license yet. 2211 W. North Ave. Hours are 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday; 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

'Last Chance' for Designer Duds. Re.Stock Shop, a designer clothing discounter is heading to Lincoln Park after several years in Wicker Park. The shop's last day is next Sunday and many items are heavily marked down until then, especially children's clothes.  1452 N. Milwaukee Ave. Hours are 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday; 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.

Get Your Bike Ready for Spring: Earlier this week, self serve bike fix-it stations were installed along three of the 2.7-mile-long Bloomingdale Trail's ground-level parks.  "Bike Ambassadors" from West Town Bike will be on hand to conduct air, brakes, and chain-safety checks, fill tires, distribute rules of the road, fit bike helmets and help with minor bike tune-ups. From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Ridgeway, Walsh Parks and on the north side of the trail at Talman.

Catch International Movies, Music: CIMMFest brings hundreds of screenings along with talks and performances to venues across Wicker Park and Logan Square, according to the lineup. On Friday, Kap G, a Mexican-American rapper from Atlanta, Ga.  headlines a 10 p.m show with local rappers Kid-Ro and iLLz. Chop Shop's 1st Ward, 2033 W. North Ave., $20.
