CHICAGO — The FBI has put Luis Macedo, an area man wanted in the 2009 murder of a 15-year-old Chicago boy, on its most-wanted list, officials said Thursday.

Luis Macedo, 28, has been charged in the 2009 killing of a 15-year-old boy, but authorities believe he may have fled the area to avoid the first-degree murder charges. The FBI has offered $5,000 for information that leads to his capture.

"The victim was brutally beaten, shot, and set on fire by several alleged Latin Kings street gang members, after the teen refused to show a gang sign. Macedo allegedly initiated the attack," according to the description on the FBI's Ten Most Wanted site.

The teen was killed on May 1, 2009. His body was found behind a vacant home in the 3000 block of West 54th Place in Gage Park. Others have been tried and convicted in the case.

The FBI is seeking Luis Macedo, who is on the run and wanted in the 2009 murder of a 15-year-old boy.

Macedo's arrest warrant was issued on July 21, 2009, according to the FBI. A federal arrest warrant was issued in May 2010 when he was charged with unlawful flight to avoid prosecution, the FBI said.

His last known address was in south suburban Oak Lawn, the FBI said, but he is believed to have fled to Mexico or the Southeast United States.

Authorities have described Macedo as a Hispanic man, standing 5'5 and weighing about 130 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes, according to the FBI.

Macedo also has a number of visible tattoos, including a crown on his wrist, multiple tattoos on both hands and the words "so many" on the back of his neck, according to the FBI.

Macedo has gone by a number of aliases including: Ye-Ye, Luis Macebo, Louis Macedo, Louis M. Macedo, Luis M. Maczdo and Luis M. Mercado, the FBI said.

Speaking to reporters in Chicago, FBI director James Comey said Macedo was added to the top ten list because authorities believe someone knows where he is. "We're trying to shine a very bright and hot spotlight on Mr. Macedo," Comey said.

Anyone with information on Macedo is asked to call the FBI's Chicago office at 312-421-6700.
