GAGE PARK — A 21-year-old man has been charged in the armed robberies of three separate Boost Mobile stores on the city's Southwest Side, police said.

According to a police alert sent out earlier this month, each incident involved two men walking into a store and spraying clerks with pepper spray before making off with merchandise.

Police said the robberies occurred at:

• 12:30 p.m. March 31 in the 5100 block of South Kedzie Avenue

• 8:50 p.m. March 31 in the 6400 block of South Pulaski Road

• 2:22 p.m. on April 2 in the 6600 block of South Cicero Avenue

Dionte Smith, of the 3500 block of West 79th Street, is charged with three felony counts of armed robbery. He is scheduled to appear in bond court Wednesday, police said.

After the initial community alert, police said a fourth Boost Mobile store was robbed in similar fashion at 10:50 p.m. March 29 in the 1100 block of South Delano Court in the South Loop.

Smith has not been charged in that crime.
