DOWNTOWN — The next closest thing to a mountain Downtown reopens this week.

The climbing wall at Maggie Daley Park will reopen Saturday, according to the Chicago Park District. Pricing wasn't immediately available, but "bouldering" without ropes or harnesses cost $15 per person last year, according to the park district's website

The climbing wall centers the park's popular ice skating ribbon, which is now closed for the season. Officially named the Malkin-Sacks Rock Climbing Walls, the 40-foot manmade crag at 337 E. Randolph St. can accommodate between 25 and 100 climbers at a time.

First-time climbers must attend a certification class before climbing. Bouldering certification cost $15 and climbing certification cost $29 last year. Belay buddies are encouraged, but staff will be on-site to help, the park district said.

The park is open from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. on Sunday.
