Check Out These Panoramic Views From The 90th Floor Of Future Vista Tower

DOWNTOWN — The two-floor penthouse planned for the top of the supertall Vista Tower costs more than $17 million, but these views are free.

The developer behind the 93-story skyscraper coming to Wacker Drive opened its sales center last week. Housed in a Downtown high-rise at 345 E. Wacker Drive, the sales center includes model kitchens and bathrooms, but its centerpiece is a "View Room" showing panoramic shots from the tower before it's even built.

"Given the status of the building, it's important to have the sales center reflective of that importance," said Jim Losik, national marketing director for Chicago-based Magellan Development Group.

The view room shows 16 different views from the 15th to 90th floors of the distinctive Jeanne Gang-designed tower, which is expected to open in 2019 at 381 E. Wacker Drive. Losik said Magellan used a drone photographer to take photos at day and night from different heights to show what, say, a 90th-floor view down Grant Park would look like.

Once built, the frustum-shaped tower will be the third-tallest building in the city, and the tallest in the world designed by a woman. The $950-million project is a venture between Magellan and Chinese conglomerate Wanda Group, and will contain a hotel as well as 406 luxury condominiums.

Losik said the project's sales have been "fantastic" and exceeded expectations, but declined to disclose details. Vista's condo prices range from roughly $1 million for a 1,000-square-foot, one-bedroom unit to $17.1 million for the two-floor, 7,000-square-foot penthouse at the top of the tower. Construction could begin as early as this summer, Losik said.
