DUNNING — A meeting set for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday will discuss concerns about crime and loitering in the reading garden outside the Dunning branch of the Chicago Public Library, 7455 W. Cornelia Ave.

Hosted by the community policing office of the Jefferson Park (16th) Police District, the meeting is designed to discuss ways to keep the garden safe and clean after the library is closed, organizers said.

The garden, which has benches, was vandalized on Halloween and in November, there were reports of teens selling and doing drugs in the garden while intimidating neighbors, organizers said.

An event to spruce up the garden as well as forming an outdoor reading club will be discussed as well as an effort to form a coffee club that would maintain the garden, organizers said.
