CHICAGO — If you can get through Saturday's snow and strong winds you'll be in for a pleasant, 60-degree Sunday, a meteorologist said.
Saturday will see light snow showers that will leave a dusting on grassy areas, said Eric Lenning, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service. There will be a break at midday, but there's a chance it could snow or rain again in the afternoon. Some parts of the city could even see "thunder snow."
"There's actually a possibility some locations could get a little bit of thunder snow, but that would be pretty isolated and short-lived," Lenning siad. "That's snow when you have a little bit of convection with it, which is somewhat unusual."
The city will also see 40 MPH winds throughout the day, and there could be an "isolated, brief" gust that hits 50 MPH, Lenning said.
"That's the main concern today, actually, moreso than even the snow," Lenning said.
Sunday should be a bit more spring-like: Temperatures could hit 60 degrees with a low in the mid-30s, and the strong winds should drop off.
It'll be "much different than today," Lenning said.
