RAVENSWOOD — Studio L'Amour, home to burlesque shows and classes, is celebrating its first anniversary in Ravenswood on Friday with a special edition of "Naked Girls Reading."

The brainchild of well-known burlesque artist Michelle L'Amour, owner of Studio L'Amour, and her husband Franky Vivid, Naked Girls Reading is exactly what it sounds like.

Described as "part literary salon, part peep show," the live series — which now has 25 chapters around the world — combines the intellectual with the sexual, according to L'Amour.

As the show's tagline says: "You can't spell 'literature' without T&A."

Friday's event will feature a reading by special guest Leslie Zemeckis, author of "Goddess of Love Incarnate: The Life of Stripteuse Lili St. Cyr."

Zemeckis, the wife of "Back to the Future" director Robert Zemeckis, is herself a documentary filmmaker and biographer of influential women in burlesque.

Tickets to the show can be purchased online. Cost is $20 or two for $35. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. and the reading starts at 8 p.m., 4001 N. Ravenswood Ave.

Studio L'Amour opened in 2008 and moved to Ravenswood in 2015.
