At 1:45 a.m., the 32-year-old man was in the 2900 block of North Sacramento Avenue when someone in a passing white SUV shot at the man, said Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police Department spokeswoman.

The man was shot in his chest. He was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital in critical condition and was later pronounced dead, Sedevic said.

The man was identified as Mario E. Guzman, of the 2900 block of North Sacramento Avenue, in Cook County Medical Examiner's records. Guzman was pronounced dead at 2:33 a.m.
