CHICAGO — Officers who raided an Avalon Park man's home Wednesday found 55 marijuana plants as well as couple guns, some bullets and cash, according to police.

Robert C. Bearden III, 38, was arrested Wednesday after a search of his house found the pot plants, a "large quantity" of cultivated marijuana, a handgun, a shotgun, ammunition and $1,600 in cash, police said.

Officers discovered the items when they executed a search warrant on Bearden's house in the 8000 block of South Harper Avenue Wednesday afternoon, police said.

Bearden has been charged with marijuana production, marijuana possession and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He is due to make his first court appearance Friday, police said.
