CHICAGO — Another high-profile, large-scale restaurant will soon be calling Block 37 home.

Slated to open this summer in the budding food and retail destination is The Dearborn, an upscale American tavern-style restaurant spearheaded by Amy and Clodagh Lawless.

The Dearborn, 145 N. Dearborn St., will feature a menu by executive chef Aaron Cuschieri, formerly of Alinea, Takashi and Slurping Turtle. It will feature upscale cuisine with a "Midwestern slant and a contemporary twist," according to a press release.

The restaurant will also specialize in seafood and unidentified, "lesser-known" meat cuts.

Though it won't open until the summer, the restaurant's decor has already come into focus. Designed by the same person who did Shaw's Crab House and Gibson's, the Dearborn has a classic design with plush seating and dark woods.

The 8,000-square-foot restaurant will be able to seat nearly 250 guests, according to a press release, including a private dining room that can seat 27.

The Dearborn is the latest high-profile tenant to land at Block 37, a once-forlorn development site that sat vacant for years. Besides clothing stores and casual dining options, the mall also includes a movie theater and the Spanish food market Latinicity.

Unlike Latinicity, the Dearborn will open to the street and will include storefront-style windows. Guests will enter near Dearborn and Randolph streets into the front dining room; the restaurant also has a bar area and rear dining room.

Amy and Clodagh Lawless are Irish sisters whose father, Billy Lawless, is a successful Chicago restaurateur behind The Gage in the Loop and Wrigleyville's Irish Oak.

It is the first solo project for the sisters, according to Chicago Magazine.
