LINCOLN SQUARE — An open mic night centered on the theme of hunger will benefit the Lincoln Square Friendship Center food pantry.

Doors open at 5:30 p.m., Sunday, at Waters Elementary, 4540 N. Campbell Ave. A dozen slots will be available to songwriters and storytellers — all stories must be original and true.

Admission is free but donations are welcome. All funds collected will be matched by the Lincoln Square Presbyterian Church and given to the Friendship Center, which opened in 2013 at 2733 W. Lawrence Ave.

The evening also includes featured performances by: Paula Carter, who's participated in Essay Fiesta and The Moth; Paul van der Bijl, musician and worship director at Bucktown's Covenant Presbyterian Church; singer/songwriter Sue Fink; and David Barish, an active member of Chicago's storytelling scene.
