WEST PULLMAN — A 26-year-old man was in critical condition after being shot in the back and crashing his car into an embankment hanging over Interstate 57 Wednesday night, according to police and witnesses.

Around 11:45 p.m., the man was stopped at a red light in the 11400 block of South Ashland Avenue when someone pulled up next to him in a light-colored sedan and shot at him, according to Officer Ana Pacheco, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

The man was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in critical condition with a gunshot wound in his back, Pacheco said.

A video obtained by DNAinfo shows the man's car hanging over an embankment above the expressway.

No one is in custody, Pacheco said.
