1 Killed, 4 Wounded in Shootings Since Tuesday Morning: Police

CHICAGO — A man died and four others were wounded, one critically, in shootings between Tuesday morning and Wednesday morning, police said.

A 20-year-old man was shot to death in Back of the Yards Tuesday evening, according to Officer Janel Sedevic, a Chicago Police spokeswoman.

• Around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, a 16-year-old boy was standing with a group in the 1300 block of South Homan Avenue in North Lawndale when someone fired shots out of a passing car, police said.

The boy was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in critical condition with multiple gunshots to his upper body, Sedevic said.

Police said the boy is a documented gang member.

• About 2:15 p.m. Tuesday, a 26-year-old man was sitting in a parked car in the 2800 block of West Polk Street in East Garfield Park when someone shot at him from a passing car, Sedevic said.

The man was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was listed in good condition with a gunshot wound in his left arm and a graze wound in his right arm, Sedevic said.

• About 45 minutes earlier, Sedevic said, a 30-year-old man was walking in the 1200 block of South Troy Avenue in North Lawndale when someone walked up and shot him in his side.

The man brought himself to Mount Sinai Hospital, where he was in good condition, Sedevic said.

• Just before 9 a.m. Tuesday morning, a 25-year-old man walked into Norwegian Hospital with a gunshot wound in his left ankle, Sedevic said.

Police could not immediately provide details on the shooting, but it occurred in the 700 block of North St. Louis Avenue in East Garfield Park, Sedevic said.

The man was listed in good condition, police said.

In addition to the shootings, a 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in West Garfield Park Tuesday evening, police said.
