HYDE PARK — The number of Hyde Park seminaries will soon be up to six with Bexley Seabury Seminary moving to the neighborhood from Ohio in July.

The Episcopalian seminary announced Friday it will move in July into the Chicago Theological Seminary building at 1407 E. 60th St. in the fall from its current home in Columbus, Ohio.

The seminary will use most of the second floor of the building for its doctor of ministry degree and Anglican studies and lifelong learning programs, and it will expand to offer a master of divinity degree after getting state accreditation.

“We welcome Bexley Seabury Seminary to CTS,” Chicago Theological Seminary President Alice Hunt said. “This is an important association between two separate institutions operating within one space. As the landscape for theological education changes, I believe we will see more of these inter-institutional associations as they are beneficial for students, faculty, theological education, the academy, and the larger religious landscape.”

The two seminaries said they plan to collaborate on new courses spanning the two institutions.
