OLD IRVING PARK — Does deep dish pizza pair well with green beer?

Residents of Old Irving Park can find out March 17, St. Patrick's Day, when the newest Lou Malnati's is scheduled to open at 4 p.m. at 3986 N. Avondale Ave.

It's the 45th Malnati's location, and the opening coincides with the company's 45th anniversary, according to a Malnati's spokeswoman.

Founder Lou Malnati and his wife Jean opened their first restaurant March 17, 1971, in Lincolnwood. The company is still family owned.

The Old Irving Park outpost will be carryout and delivery only.

The delivery zone stretches south to Belmont, north into Jefferson Park and covers most of Albany Park.

The new Malnati's is part of a mixed-use development that also includes a just-opened Potbelly Sandwich Shop and a coming-soon Bow Truss Coffee.
