NORTH CENTER — If there's a songstress, ukulele player or comedian inside you busting to get out, tonight's the night to set that talent free.

Open mic night is making its debut at 7:30 p.m. at Tavern on Little Fort, 4128 N. Lincoln Ave.

Featured performer Sarah Drew will take the stage at 8:30 p.m., with 15-minute slots available before and after her set. Sign up starts at 7 p.m.

If you're new to the open mic scene, here are a few do's and don't's, courtesy of Bandzoogle, both for performers and guests:

• Don't expect to be discovered — this is a networking opportunity with other performers.

• Don't talk loudly over a ballad — it's OK to chat but keep the volume respectful.

• Do make friends with the host, bartenders and staff — maybe you'll get invited back.

• Don't apologize for your performance beforehand.

• Do remember to have fun.
