Man, 22, Crashes Car After Shot Dead in Washington Heights Sunday: Police

CHICAGO — A 22-year-old man was shot and killed in Washington Heights early Sunday, police said.

At 1:02 a.m., police were responding to a call in the 9700 block of South Sangamon Avenue when they found a 22-year-old man unresponsive in a car, said Officer Michelle Tannehill, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. The man had been driving in the area when he was shot by someone and crashed his car.

The man was taken to Loretto Hospital, Tannehill said.

Lawrence Campbell III, of the 1200 block of West 61st Street in West Englewood, was pronounced dead at 1:20 a.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office.

No one was in custody in the shooting.
