RAVENSWOOD — Leave it to a couple of Louisiana transplants to bring an authentic taste of Mardi Gras to Chicago.

Will Goodwin and Sidonie Gaude, the husband-and-wife owners of Spoken Cafe, are cooking up all kinds of tributes to their Cajun roots for Fat Tuesday.

Enjoy coffee with chicory (just like at Cafe du Monde), cheese grits milled by Baker Miller and Mardi Gras cupcakes for breakfast. Stop by for lunch and order Gulf shrimp etouffee or Gulf shrimp remoulade Po'boys.

As a nod to Chicago's Fat Tuesday traditions, Spoken, 1812 W. Montrose Ave., will also have paczkis on hand from Do-Rite Donuts.

Hours are 6:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
