CHICAGO — The Illinois Department of Children and Family Services is investigating the mother and father of a one-month old who died in North Park Tuesday.
Zyla Harden, the one-month old who lived in the 5200 block of North Bernard Street, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday in Lurie Children's Hospital, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The medical examiner has not determined the cause of death in the case, but child services has said it is looking into Zyla's mother and father for allegations of abuse and neglect, a spokeswoman for the department said.
The state has put the family's three other children into the Department of Children and Family Services monitor and safety plan, the spokeswoman said.
The investigation is ongoing. Investigators have not previously had contact with the family prior to this case, DCFS said.
