1 Dead, 8 Wounded In Shootings Across Chicago Since Tuesday, Police Say

CHICAGO — One person was killed and 8 others were wounded in shootings in Chicago from Tuesday to early Wednesday, police said. 

A 21-year-old man was killed in a South Chicago shooting Tuesday night, said Officer Jose Estrada, a Chicago Police spokesman said. At 10:33 p.m. the man was walking in the 8100 block of South Houston Avenue when he was shot in his buttocks, Estrada said. The man was taken to Northwestern Memorial Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Estrada said. 

Most recently, at 2:45 a.m. Wednesday, a 20-year-old man was shot while looking for a parking space in the 6700 block of South Merrill Avenue, Estrada said. The man was shot in his head, taken to Jackson Park Hospital and later transferred to Stroger Hospital where he was listed in serious condition, Estrada said. 

Two men were wounded in separate Garfield Park shootings on Tuesday, Estrada said.

At 8:30 p.m., a 77-year-old man was shot as he was driving in the 7100 block of South Morgan Street Tuesday night in Englewood, Estrada said.

At 4:08 p.m., a 27-year-old man was shot in Albany Park Tuesday afternoon, Estrada said.  The man checked himself to Swedish Covenant Medical Center where he was listed in serious condition, Estrada said.  

Eight minutes earlier, a 17-year-old was wounded in an Irving Park shooting Tuesday afternoon, police said. The teen, who is a documented gang member, gave police conflicting statements where he was shot, Estrada said.

At 3:40 p.m., a 20-year-old man shot and wounded during a robbery in the 7000 block of South Rockwell Avenue in Marquette Park, Estrada said.

No one is in custody for any of the shootings, Estrada said. 

In non-shootings:

At 7:40 p.m., Tuesday, a 34-year-old man was fatally stabbed in an alleged domestic violence incident in the 3400 block of West Flournoy Street in Homan Square, said Officer Nicole Trainor, a Chicago Police spokeswoman. 

The man was taken to Mt. Sinai Hospital where he was pronounced dead, Trainor said. 

No other information was available, Trainor said.
