IRVING PARK — Parents, teachers and community members have come up with countless ways to bring more resources and programs to neighborhood schools.

The North River Commission — which serves an area that stretches from the Chicago River to Cicero and Addison to Devon — is aiming to harness those ideas, along with knowledge and expertise, at an education planning meeting.

Anyone interested in the quality of education at schools in Irving Park, Albany Park, North Park, Mayfair and surrounding areas is invited to attend Tuesday's session, 7 p.m. at Bateman Elementary, 4220 N. Richmond St.

The evening is designed to provide a forum for educators, parents and residents to swap success stories and pick each other's brains.

The North River Commission plans to hold additional discussions throughout the year to brainstorm ways to help schools realize their vision.
