CHICAGO — An Englewood man faces a first degree murder charge in the fatal shooting of a man in the McCormick Place Hyatt lobby.

Armonte Hooper, 23, of the 400 block of West Marquette, faces a first degree murder charge, police said.

Prosecutors said Hooper shot and killed Courtney Taylor, 23, during a birthday party after Hooper's friend said Taylor hit on his girlfriend, according to the Tribune. Hooper and his friends got into an argument with Taylor and his friends and then left the hotel, prosecutors said.

When they returned, Hooper pointed a gun at one of Taylor's friends, who ran away and was hit over his head with a glass table top, prosecutors said, according to the Tribune. Taylor ran to help his friend, prosecutors said, and Hooper shot Taylor, hitting him five times.
