HYDE PARK — The Brent House is hosting a Jazz Age-themed fundraiser with Prohibition-era beers brewed specifically for the event and a performance by vocalist Sarah Marie Young on Friday.

Guests are encouraged to come in period dress for the fundraiser at 6 p.m. Friday at the Brent House, 5540 S. Woodlawn Ave.

Two special beers are being brewed specifically for the event. The Prohibition-era beers include a lager and a “cooper,” an old English style that is half porter and half stout with a little sour cherry beer added just before bottling.

A silent auction will precede the performance by Young, 2010 Thelonious Monk Competition finalist and winner of the 2011 Montreux Voice Competition.

Tickets are $35 and $15 for University of Chicago students and available on the Brent House website.
