20-Year-Old Man Killed in Austin Shooting Friday Night, Police Say

CHICAGO — A 20-year-old man was fatally shot in Austin Friday evening, according to police.

The man was outside in the 5100 block of West Division Street at 6:20 p.m. when someone walked up from behind and opened fire before running away, said Officer Jose Estrada, Chicago Police spokesman.

He was struck multiple times in his back, Estrada said.

Martice White, of the 5000 block of West Concord Place, was pronounced dead at Mount Sinai Hospital at 8:14 p.m., according to Cook County Medical Examiner's office records.

He was a documented gang member, according to police.

No arrests have been made, Estrada said.
